The Principles of Music course explores harmony, melody, rhythm, and form with an introduction to the musical keyboard and ear training. Relevant musical structures will be examined and discussed in the context of popular music using common industry terms.

What You’ll Need

  • Basic computer skills

  • Familiarity with Apple computers

  • An Apple laptop or desktop computer less than 3 years old

  • USB MIDI keyboard for musical entry, such as the Novation LaunchKey 25

  • High-quality headphones (not earbuds), such as the Sennheiser HD280
